Commonly performed treatments
Functional Range Assessment (FRA):
FRA is a joint by joint approach to ensure every one of your joints has sufficient range of motion. An FRA is particularly helpful for athletes, but will help anyone to move more efficiently and safely.
Functional And Kinetic Treatment with Rehab (FAKTR):
This technique incorporates the latest research and evidence-based soft-tissue techniques to treat common disorders of the musculoskeletal system and complicated injuries quickly and easily with impressive results. Specific treatment will be customized to your unique needs.
Myofascial Release Technique: (MRT):
MRT is a hands-on procedure to treat soft tissue injuries related to muscle, tendon, fascia and nerves. When an injury occurs in the soft tissue, whether due to surgery, accident, partial distortion or repetitive strain, the body's natural response is to form scar tissue. Scarring has a detrimental effect, as it causes tissues to adhere to themselves as well as to other related structures. These adhesions can cause decreased blood flow, nerve entrapments and loss of range of motion, resulting in pain and a slower healing process.
Taping:
Taping acts mechanically like a spring to strongly decelerate or assist motion to improve movement patterns. This helps to reduce load on injured or overworked structures like a muscle strain, ankle sprain, tennis elbow or plantar fasciitis and can assist where weakness is present eg. after ACL repair to address risk factors associated with pain or re-injury.
Quality of life is determined by our ability to perform our normal daily activities. For someone recovering from a stroke, that might be to grasp a cup. For others, it might be to run a marathon. Effects can be immediate, observable and measurable.
Dry needling:
Dry needling is a technique used to treat dysfunctions in skeletal muscle, fascia, and connective tissue. The needle penetrates the skin and treats underlying muscular trigger points for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. A trigger point is a local contracture or tight band in a muscle fiber that can disrupt function, restrict range of motion, refer pain or cause local tenderness. When dry needling is applied to a dysfunctional muscle or trigger point, it can decrease banding or tightness, increase blood flow, and reduce local and referred pain.
Cupping:
This therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. Cupping helps to reduce pain and inflammation while increasing blood flow, promoting relaxation and well-being, and serving as a type of deep-tissue massage.
